Choir
Singing is another great way to enjoy worship together. Our Choir covers a varied repertoire, including anthems from the middle-ages to modern day composers. Practice is on Wednesday evening from 7.45pm to 9pm (at the latest), and we sing weekly at the Sunday morning Eucharist, once a month at Sunday Evensong (most months) and occasionally at special services. It is not necessary to be an expert musician, but if you enjoy singing and would like to get involved please contact Chris Buck our Organist and Choirmaster on 01737 558732 or email choirmaster@stmaryscaterham.org.
Junior Choir
St Mary’s Choristers is open to children in Year 2 and above and is a fun way for young people in church to get to know each other. We practice at 10.45-11.30am on Sunday, after the weekly sung Eucharist service. We sing at some family services and other special services through the year. The choir leaders are experienced and are DBS checked. If your child would like to come and try it, please contact the parish office by phone or email juniorchoir@stmaryscaterham.org.
St Lawrence’s Teas Summer Programme
Every Summer St Lawrence’s church is open on Sunday afternoons for Teas. Local professional and amateur musicians have an opportunity to support this fundraising activity and play to an appreciative audience. We have been entertained by choirs and individual singers; wind and string musicians; and even a local group of hand bell ringers. If you have a musical talent and would like to take part on summer Sunday afternoon, please contact Mary Clair Kelly on summermusic@stmaryscaterham.org.
Free Spirit Music Group
Using a variety of instruments, the “Free Spirit” music group plays traditional and modern songs at the family Eucharist and Time & Space Services at St Mary’s and occasionally also plays at other team churches. Practice takes place in the St. Paul’s Centre at 8.00pm on Tuesday evenings. If you are a musician or singer and would like to have fun learning and sharing worship music, please contact Martin at freespirit@stmaryscaterham.org.
Bell ringers
St Mary’s is lucky enough to have a peal of ‘full-circle’ church bells which were installed in 1993-4. We ring every Sunday morning, also for weddings and other special occasions and practice every Friday evening from 8 – 9.30pm. Anyone interested in learning to ring (from 11years upwards) is welcome to come and meet our friendly band. No experience is needed as full training will be given. To find out more please contact the Tower Captain, Frances Clementi on 01883 348848 or by email at bellringers@stmaryscaterham.org.
