As the covid pandemic threat receded, the Guild was able to resume more of its normal activities in 2022/3 and had a busy year. Three committee meetings were held during this period and the first AGM since 2019 was held in May 2022.
There was a return to a more regular schedule of services held at St Lawrence’s during the year, including Wednesday evening prayers, Time and Space services, a summer ecumenical service in August and the annual carol service with the Salvation Army in December . A wide range of fundraising events were held including a coffee morning in September, craft fairs, monthly Repair Cafés (April to December), guided tours of St Lawrence’s and the very successful and well attended Summer teas many of which were accompanied by choirs and musicians in St Lawrence’s.
In terms of works, new wooden units were installed in the church to house equipment, and proposals to install a new toilet are still being developed. As this is likely to take some time to get through the different stages of approval needed, the possibility of installing a temporary toilet is being looked into from the summer.
Other key activity in this period included a review of the Guild Constitution . An updated version has been approved by the Committee and will be considered at the AGM in May 2023.
Looking forward to 2023/4 we are hoping to continue to grow the membership and encourage an even wider range of fund raising activities.
