Annual Report – Guild of Friends of St. Lawrence’s Church

During the past year St Lawrence Church has remained a busy active Church holding various services starting with the Maundy Thursday service in St Mary’s and then the Procession into St Lawrence’ Church to the Altar of Repose and All Night Vigil.

The Church is now available for both Weddings and Funerals.

“Time and Space” with Free Spirit is held on the second Sunday of the month at 6pm.which is a lovely quiet service of Celtic readings and songs and meditation

Silent Prayer Group is held every Wednesday from 7-7:45 which includes a short teaching on Christian Meditation

Guided Tours were held during the summer months starting at 3pm Adults £3, Children – free.   All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the Church.

Afternoon Teas were held every Sunday Afternoon during the Summer months.  Delicious home-made cakes and pots of tea were available.  A few weeks are also set aside for musical entertainment which proves to be popular and a good fund raiser.

Talk and Teas during the Winter months took place on the 3rd Sunday of the month with a variety of different speakers.

Musical Evening – Live at St Lawrence’s is held on the third Sunday of the month at 7:30pm which has proved very popular and a good fund raiser.

Craft Fairs have been held during the year on a Saturday morning and again very popular as so is the Repair Shop held on the 2nd Saturday of the month 10:30 – 1pm.

Fund Raising Events and the Lego Appeal carry on with proceeds going towards a new Kitchen and Toilets.   This is an on-going Fund Raiser.

Annual Coffee Morning held last September was a good Fund Raiser and well attended by Members and the local community.

Utopians Unlimited – Gilbert and Sullivan Evening. An Evening of Gilbert and Sullivan music together with Trial by Jury was performed by the Utopians Unlimited which proved to be a very popular evening.    The Church was filled to capacity and spilled out into the Church grounds. Proceeds from this performance were put to the Church Funds.

Churches Together Carol Service was held at the beginning of December with the Croydon Citadel Salvation Army Band providing the music.
